Cryp Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 9, 2026
Cryp is a Chrome extension for tracking cryptocurrency prices, charts, watchlists, alerts, portfolio values, market data, gas prices, and related crypto tools.
Summary
Cryp does not sell user data, does not run ads, does not use analytics, and does not create user accounts. Most user-created data is stored locally in the user's browser using Chrome extension storage.
Information Cryp Stores Locally
Cryp may store the following data on the user's device:
- Watchlist tokens.
- Price alerts and alert status.
- Portfolio entries, including token holdings and buy prices entered by the user.
- Trading notes entered by the user.
- Theme and refresh settings.
- Cached market data used to make the extension faster and reduce API rate limits.
This information is stored locally in Chrome storage or local browser storage. Cryp does not operate a backend server and does not upload this stored data to a developer-controlled server.
Information Sent to Third-Party Services
Cryp uses public third-party APIs to provide its features:
- CoinGecko: cryptocurrency prices, charts, search, exchange ticker data, derivatives, and trending market data.
- Alternative.me: Fear & Greed Index data.
- DeFiLlama: DeFi protocol and TVL data.
- blockchain.info: Bitcoin block height data.
- Public RPC providers for Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, and Arbitrum gas and wallet lookup features.
- Etherscan links may be opened when the user chooses to view an address externally.
- Ko-fi may be opened when the user chooses to visit the support link.
When Cryp requests data from these services, those services may receive normal network information such as the user's IP address and browser request metadata. If the user uses the wallet lookup feature, the public wallet address entered by the user is sent to a public RPC endpoint to fetch balance and transaction count. Cryp does not send private keys or seed phrases, and users should never enter private keys or seed phrases into Cryp.
How Information Is Used
Cryp uses locally stored data only to provide extension features, including showing the user's selected watchlist, calculating portfolio value and profit/loss, triggering price alerts, displaying notes and settings, and caching market data for performance and reliability.
Sharing and Selling Data
Cryp does not sell, rent, or trade user data. Cryp does not share locally stored watchlists, alerts, portfolio entries, notes, or settings with the developer or any developer-controlled server.
Data may be transmitted to the third-party services listed above only when needed to provide the extension's user-facing features.
Permissions
Cryp requests storage to save extension data locally, alarms to periodically refresh market data and check price alerts, and notifications to show user-created price alert notifications.
Cryp also requests host permissions for public crypto market APIs and blockchain RPC endpoints so it can fetch prices, charts, gas data, wallet lookup results, and market indicators.
Data Retention and Deletion
User-created data remains in the user's browser until the user deletes it, clears extension/browser data, resets Chrome storage, or uninstalls Cryp. Uninstalling the extension removes Chrome extension storage associated with Cryp.
Remote Code
Cryp does not load or execute remote JavaScript code. Extension scripts are packaged with the extension.
Limited Use Statement
Cryp's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
This privacy policy may be updated if Cryp's features or data practices change. The effective date will be updated when changes are made.
